Scotland's Gemma Dryburgh claimed a share of the lead after the opening round of the Cambia Portland Classic, with Ireland's Olivia Mehaffey five off the pace after a solid start.

Dryburgh holed out for an eagle on the par-four seventh and also carded five birdies in an opening four-under-par 68 which was matched by Spain's Carlota Ciganda and Thailand's Pajaree Anannarukarn.

Mehaffey, who lies on one-over-par after carding a 71, secured a sponsor's invitation to play at the tournament.

She will compete in Stage Two of the LPGA Q-School in October, with her sights set on taking her place alongside Leona Maguire and Stephanie Meadow on the LPGA Tour. Meadow trails her compatriot by two shots on three over.
