Stephanie Meadow is three off the lead at the Lotte Championship in Hawaii after carding an excellent five-under-par 67 in her opening round, with Leona Maguire just a shot behind her.

FULL LEADERBOARD

Sharing the lead after superb rounds of eight-under 64 were American Brittany Altomare and the Philippines' Yuka Saso, a shot ahead of South Korea's So Yeon Ryu and Americans Ally Ewing and Nelly Korda at Kapolei Golf Club.

Meadow had a sparkling front nine, sinking five birdies. Three more birdies thereafter were offset by three bogeys but this was a very solid start from the 29-year-old Northern Irishwoman, who is still chasing her first LPGA title in her seventh year on the tour.

Maguire didn't pick up a bogey all day as she notched three birdies from her last six holes to steam up the leaderboard.

Two weeks ago she finished finish on four-under-par in a tie for 28th at the ANA Inspiration, with Meadow two shots better off on six-under.
