Stephanie Meadow is two shots off the lead after held by Inbee Park after the opening round of the Kia Classic at the Aviara Golf Club.
Meadow carded a round of 68 that sees her in tie for third spot on four under alongside In Gee Chun, 2020 AIG Women's Open champion Sophia Popov and Mel Reid, a 2020 Rolex First-Time Winner at the ShopRite LPGA Classic.
A 20-time LPGA Tour winner with seven major titles to her name, Park posted a bogey-free, 6-under 66. Leona Maguire signed for a level-par 72.
"Hopefully I don’t finish like I did in 2019," said Meadow, who opened with a five-under 67 and then went four over on the weekend.
"I like this golf course. I feel like if you hit good golf shots you will be rewarded, and if you don’t hit it in the fairway it’s really penalizing, so that kind of plays into the strength of my game. It’s a pretty walk, gorgeous course and just easy to be happy out there."
