A hole-in-one helped Germany's Stephan Jaeger take a narrow lead after the opening round of the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship, the first PGA Tour tournament held in the Dominican Republic.
Jaeger achieved the feat with an eight iron on the second hole – his 11th of the day – on his way to a six-under-par 66, with Americans Joel Dahmen and Andrew Yun sharing second place on five under.
European Ryder Cup captain Padraig Harrington was three shots off the pace following an opening 69, with 2019 winner Graeme McDowell, former Masters champion Danny Willett and Tom Lewis all another stroke back.
Three-time major winner Harrington was one over par after 11 holes but birdied four of the last seven as he looks to bounce back from a missed cut in last week’s Honda Classic.
Former world number one Luke Donald carded a one-under-par 71, with Ireland’s Seamus Power returning a 72.
