Leona Maguire dropped a shot overall on day three at the Drive On Championship but remains just outside the top 10 ahead of the final day in Florida.

The Cavan golfer carded a one-over-par round of 73 to slip back to three under par for the tournament, 10 shots behind leader Austin Ernst and in a tie for 11th.

Fellow Irish Olympian Stephanie Meadow matched her opening round score of 71 to move up to one over.

LEADERBOARD

Maguire had been tied for sixth overnight on four under. Although, she carded two birdies on holes four and 18, bogeys on the ninth, 10th and 12th meant she was unable to build on her strong start to the tournament.

Meadow, meanwhile, birdied the third and fourth, with the Antrim golfer dropping just one shot at the Par 4 13th.

At the top of the leaderboard, Ernst was able to forge marginally ahead of overnight co-leader Jennifer Kupcho, to move up to 13-under after a 69, while her US compatriot is on 12-under overall, finishing her round with an eagle on the 18th to give herself a timely boost entering Sunday's final day.

Ernst got some momentum rolling on the front side with three birdies on three, five and nine, and bobbled only once on the back with a bogey at 10. She made birdie at 11, then finished out with seven straight pars.

Kupcho is still searching for her first LPGA win in her third season on tour. The 23-year-old combatted bogeys on two and 13 with pars at seven and eight, then lingered three shots back before finishing with the eagle to post a two-under 70.

Albane Valenzuela of Switzerland, who posted the low round of the day with a bogey-free 66, is in a tie for third with USA's Jennifer Coleman and Thailand's Paphangkorn Tavatanakit on seven under.
