Padraig Harrington and Seamus Power enjoyed a solid opening day as the early starters completed their rounds at the Puerto Rico Open.
Power had the best first round of the Irish duo, with a three-under 69, taking him to within four shots of leader Tommy Gainey.
The Waterford native made an inconsistent start with three bogeys and two birdies from his opening nine but turned that around on his back nine with four birdies.
Harrington was one shot further back on two under after carding a 70 which included five birdies and three bogeys.
Fellow early starters Lee Hodges, Rafael Campos, Robert Garrigus and Taylor Pendrith shared the early lead on six under after carding 66s.
Greg Chalmers, Brandon Wu and Fabian Gomez later joined them on six under but it's South Carolina-born Gainey who holds the clubhouse lead on seven under at the Grand Reserve Country Club after carding nine birdies on the way to a 65.
Power is due to tee off his second round at 3.56pm Irish time on Friday, with Harrington due to get underway nine minutes later.
