Stephanie Meadow finished with a one-under 69 to secure a brilliant third-placed finish at the Pelican Women's Championship on Sunday evening.

It capped a terrific weekend in Florida for the Jordanstown native, who was five off the winner Sei Young Kim of South Korea.

Meadow had an uphill task in her bid for glory as she dropped shots on the opening two holes, however, she clawed them back before the turn with birdies on the par-four sixth and par-five seventh.

The Irish Olympian had an eventful back nine with three birdies and two bogeys, however, the dropped shot on 18 did not make too much difference, as she maintained a one-shot gap ahead of those in a share for fourth place.

It wass Meadow's best ever performance since becoming a member of the LPGA Tour, having previoulsy finished third at the 2014 US Open in her first-ever professional event before joining the tour.

Meadow earned $98,088 for her third placed finish at the Belleair event, while Cavan native, Leona Maguire, finished in a tie for 53rd, following a final round 74, earning $4,442.

Sei Young Kim signed off with a level-par 70 that was enough to beat American Ally McDonald by three shots.
