Ireland's Mark Power was beaten 3&2 by Joe Harvey in the semi-finals of the Amateur Championship at Royal Birkdale.

Power progressed to the last four after defeating Callan Barrow 3&1 in the quarter-finals but got off to a poor start in his tie with Harvey.

Harvey was four-up after 11 holes but when he missed the green at the par-three 12th and lost the hole with a bogey four, it looked like the door was ajar for the Power to mount a comeback.

However, a birdie at the 13th returned Harvey to his four-hole advantage and the Englishman closed out the match on the 16th thanks to an up-and-down part from the left greenside bunker.

Harvey’s opponent in Sunday’s 36-hole final is Joe Long, who advanced past Barclay Brown 6&5 in the semis.
