Webb Simpson won a sudden-death playoff against Tony Finau when he birdied the first extra hole at the Phoenix Open.
The 34-year-old almost missed his chance at the title when he ended up in the water off a wayward drive on the 15th.
However he rallied with back-to-back birdies on the final two holes of regulation to force the playoff.
Finau had an opportunity to win the tournament outright, but his eight-foot birdie putt attempt on the 18th just slid right.
Simpson then cemented his victory with a 10-foot birdie putt on the extra hole.
Scotsman Russell Knox was the best of the British contingent, finishing 10-under to tie for 16th.
