Tony Finau shot a nine-under 62 to take a one-stroke lead into the fourth and final day of the Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale.
The Utah native forced his Presidents Cup team-mate Webb Simpson into second, despite the 2012 US Open champion scoring a hole-in-one on the par-three 12th.
Finau managed an eagle on the 13th before delighting onlookers by wearing a Kobe Bryant jersey as he got a birdie on the par-three 16th, finishing at 16 under.
Second-round leader JB Holmes sits two strokes back from Finau after shooting 70, alongside Hudson Swafford. Holmes won the tournament in 2006 and 2008.
Scotland's Russell Knox finished the day tied for 21st on eight under.
