Robby Shelton has taken a two stroke first round lead in the A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier in West Virginia.

The American carded an eight-under 62, followed by five fellow countrymen who went round in 64.

Ireland's Seamus Power is in a tie for 53rd place after hitting three birdies on the back nine for a two-under 68.

Starting on the back nine, Shelton picked up four shots and dropped on on the par-3 18th before stringing together three consecutive birdies on the front nine.

The chasing group includes Scott Harrington, making his long-awaited debut as a PGA Tour member at the age of 38.
