Seamus Power has started well at the Wyndham Championship as he strives to avoid a entering a play-off to keep his PGA Tour card.

The Waterford golfer shot an opening round of 64 that included an eagle and two birdies on his front nine.

He finished birdie-birdie before signing for six under par.

After missing 11 of his first 15 cuts of the 2019 season, Power entered this week 144th in the FedEx Cup rankings, meaning he has a lot of ground to make up to get himself inside the top 125.

Leading the way on eight under are the Korean duo of Byeong Hun An and Sungjae Im.

Padraig Harrington also finished strongly, with three birdies in his last six holes, ending the day two under.
