South Korean Lee Mi-hyang moved into a one-shot lead after the second round of the Evian Championship after playing her final three holes in four under par.
The 26-year-old from Seoul, whose best finish in her 30 majors to date is the second place she achieved at April's ANA Inspiration, had something of a mixed bag out on the course.
She started with two birdies to get to eight under but handed back those gains with a seven at the ninth.
Another six successive pars followed before a birdie-birdie-eagle finish to card a 67 and lift her to 10 under, one better than a trio of compatriots Inbee Park, Kim Hyo-joo and world number one Park Sung-hyun, the latter coming in with a joint best-of-the-day 64.
Dangerous weather conditions, with strong winds and heavy rain driving through the Evian Resort Club, forced a postponement late in the day and affected the rhythm of the afternoon finishers.
One of those involved was overnight leader Paula Creamer, who was 12 shots worse than Thursday's 64 as she slipped to two under, eight off the pace.
Having reached two under for her round - nine under for the tournament - by the 12th the American had a treble bogey six at the short 16th and four other bogeys in her final six holes.
World no 3 Lexi Thompson missed the cut after a 72 and criticised the course on social media.
In a post later deleted, she wrote: "Not one to make excuses but to land 3-4 drives in the middle of the fairway and end up in the rough like the one pic with a stance like that, or get a first cut lie like this one, what is this telling you? And to play well today hit one bad golf shot but hit 3 iron shots right at the pin 5 ft at one point then end up 40+ ft ….. umm really?
"I'm actually very thankful that I don’t have to put myself thru that for another two days. You’re a beautiful place Evian but that’s just too many bad breaks with good shots for me, so bye @evianchamp ! #justnotforme #allgood #onward."
Irish amateur Julie McCarthy, who has excelled on the college scene in the US, missed the cut after a six-over 77, a nine shot improvement on her opening round.
