Shane Lowry got his 2019 Masters off to the perfect start when he hit a hole-in-one on the first hole of the Par 3 contest at Augusta.

The Offaly man was accompanied by his wife Wendy, who was acting as his caddy for the pre-tournament event, and his daughter Iris.

Lowry will get his tournament proper underway at 1.52pm Irish time on Thursday and he has been drawn with amateur Kevin O'Connell and Mike Weir.

He missed out on last year's event and is clearly eager to make up for lost time.
