Brandt Snedeker hit one of the shots of the day from a hospitality tent beside the ninth green, but he would ultimately miss the par putt.
Elsewhere, Leona Maguire shot a two-over 74 on the first day of the SkyiGolf Championship at Charlotte Harbor National Golf Club in Florida.
Maguire, who is back competing on the developmental Symetra Tour after finishing joint 14th at the LET Canberra Classic, is seven shots behind leader Lauren Kim.
