Charles Howell III holds a three-shot lead at the halfway stage of the RSM Classic after producing a second successive bogey-free 64 on day two.
Howell began the day with a two-stroke advantage after firing eight birdies in a flawless first-round 64 at Sea Island's Plantation Course.
And playing the par-70 Seaside Course on Friday, Howell notched four birdies on his front nine before picking up two more shots after the turn to get to 14 under par and extend his lead to three.
Fellow Americans Jason Gore and Cameron Champ were Howell's nearest challengers on 11 under after they both finished their second-round 63s with four straight birdies.
Ireland's Graeme McDowell carded four birdies and no bogeys on Friday to jump to seven under.
However Seamus Power and Padraig Harrington but missed the cut, which was at -2 as they finished on -1.
Harrington hit a round of 66 with four birdies but his first round of 75 saw him just miss out on weekend golf.
