Shane Lowry and Padraig Harrington both lost their US PGA Tour cards after missing the cut at the season-ending Wyndham Championship, while Seamus Power faces an anxious wait to discover his fate.

Lowry’s strong showing in the US PGA gave him a chance of holding on to his card for 2019, but he needed a top-eight finish to retain his card.

The Offaly native shot one under on both days to leave himself on -2 at the halfway stage, one short of the cut at -3.

Harrington (+2) also failed to make it through to Saturday, while Power finished on three-over par.

The 31-year-old is 126th in the FedEx Cup standings with only the top 125 tomorrow night assured of their PGA Tour cards for next season and a place in the FedEx Cup playoffs.

Graeme McDowell is the only Irish golfer to make the cut at the season finale, with a second round 67, including five birdies and two bogeys, saw him squeeze through.

He is six shots shy of the top-five finish he needs to make the top 125.

Brandt Snedeker held on to the lead at the Wyndham Championship after carding a second-round 67 - a day after shooting the 10th sub-60 round in PGA Tour history.

The American took the first-round lead after joining the elite 59 club, and continued to set the pace on 14 under overall on day two, but not before losing the lead as three wayward drives on the front nine left him one-over 36 at the turn.

The 37-year-old recovered to shoot a clean back nine, including two birdies and an eagle, and finish two shots ahead of compatriot DA Points.

Quoted on the PGA Tour website, Snedeker said: "I knew it was going to be tough, it wasn't going to be the same way it was yesterday.

"Kind of battling the emotion of everybody pulling hard for you, wanting to see you do it again. So the front nine was disappointing. I didn't really drive it well, didn't do anything particularly well on the front nine.

"I pulled myself together on the back nine, made some good swings, made a few putts. To shoot four under on the back nine was nice. Got a few back and back in the lead, back in a good frame of mind going in the weekend."
