Shane Lowry well placed at the Barracuda

Shane Lowry has moved up to fourth at the Barracuda Championship.

The Offaly native carded a 69 in third round to stand on 30 points, that’s eight behind the leader Andrew Putnam after his 65. Sam Saunders is three points further back in second.

Chad Campbell carded a tournament-best round of 62 to rise to third on 32 points after a round including nine birdies, one eagle and a bogey on the par-4 14th.

Of the other Irish is tied 27th on 20 points, Padraig Harrington is in a share of 51st on 13 points, while Graeme McDowell is on 11 points, tied 59th.

The Barracuda Championship - formerly known as the Reno-Tahoe Open - uses a Modified Stableford format, which allocates points based on the number of strokes taken at each hole.

Eight points are awarded for an albatross, five for an eagle, two for a birdie, zero for a par, minus one for a bogey and minus three for a double bogey or worse.
