Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed have all made sure of their place on the US Ryder Cup team ahead of this year's competition in Le Golf National in Paris in the final week of September.

The trio officially clinched their spots on the team following the Canadian Open - won yesterday by Johnson by three strokes - and cannot now mathematically fall outside the top eight in the points race with two events remaining.

Koepka, who claimed his second US Open on the trot at Shinnecock Hills in June, heads the standings on 8,981.472 points with two events left - the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and the PGA Championship.

There are five remaining automatic spots up for grabs with Justin Thomas, Bubba Watson, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler and Webb Simpson ranked 4th to 8th in the standings in that order.

Bryson DeChambeau, Phil Mickelson, Xander Schauffele, Matt Kuchar, Kevin Kisner, Tony Finau and Brian Harman are all nipping at the heels of the top eight, all within 1,000 points of Simpson.

US captain Jim Furyk has four wildcard picks to make up the remainder of the team which travels to Paris in late September.

The Americans are aiming to retain the title they won at Hazeltine two years ago but they haven't won on European soil since Tom Watson's team triumphed at the Belfry in 1993.
