American Troy Merritt secured his second PGA Tour title with victory in the weather-delayed Barbasol Championship in Kentucky.

Seamus Power closed with his best round of the tournament, a five-under 67 studded with six birdies and a solitary bogey. That left the Waterford man on 13-under overall, ten behind the winner, and in a tie for 34th.

Thunderstorms and heavy rain forced play into a fifth day at Keene Trace Golf Club after the fourth round was suspended.

Merritt was tied for the lead with compatriots Robert Streb, Hunter Mahan and Tom Lovelady on 18 under par, although none of the quartet made it out on to the course on Sunday as downpours eventually left some holes unplayable.

When play resumed on Monday, Merritt carded a closing 67 to finish 23 under, the highlight coming on the eighth when his approach to the par four from 133 yards span back into the hole for an eagle two.

Billy Horschel, Richy Werenski and Lovelady shared second place a shot back, Horschel's birdie putt on the 18th unfortunately catching the edge of the hole and spinning out.

Merritt's previous win came in the Quicken Loans National in 2015 and the 32-year-old had to regain his PGA Tour card via the Web.com Tour finals last year.

"It's pretty special," he told the Golf Channel. "It's been a few years, it's been a struggle and a long time coming."
