Graeme McDowell carded a bogey-free 66 in the second round of the Italian Open and shares the clubhouse lead with Rafael Cabrera on ten under par.
There were five birdies for the Antrim man, including one at the last, but he still felt that there’s more to come at the Gardagolf course in Brescia.
"Today I didn’t play well," he told Sky Sports.
"I was getting the ball around with some really good iron play and some good scrambling and feeling good on the greens.
"To be in this position after two round having not played well is pleasing.
"I know with a little bit of improvement and some rest I can compete this weekend."
Padraig Harrington also shot a round of five under to move to five shots off the lead, while Paul Dunne, who started the day on two under, is currently on course.
