Paul Dunne shot a second round 69 at the Trophee Hassan in Morrocco and is just two shots off clubhouse leader Gregory Havret, who carded a second successive 70.
It could have been even better for the Greystones man, but bogeys at 16 and 17 saw him have to settle for a round of four-under par.
A birdie and eight pars formed a solid score on the front nine, before he hit a purple patch, beginning at the 10th.
Dunne claimed an eagle on the par-5 hole and that was followed by birdies at 11, 12 and 15.
The two late blemishes took the gloss off a fine round, but is well placed going into the third day of action, level with James Morrison and Gregory Bourdy on four-under.
Harvet leads the way with Denmark’s Lucas Bjerregaard and Trevor Fisher one shot adrift at -2.
A rare round in the 60s.
