There was disappointment for Irish golfers Michael Hoey and Gary Hurley in the final round of European Tour qualifying in Spain.
With 2017 cards available to the top-25 and ties at the conclusion of the mammoth six-day event at the PGA Catalunya resort, both men had work to do to make the cut-off.
Hurley in particular, needed a low round, but the 23-year-old former Walker Cup star bounced back from an opening bogey on the 10th to birdie the next five holes.
That surge put the Waterford man within a couple of strokes of his card, but he was unable to push on from there and some horrendous luck on the sixth ended his hopes.
No joy for @MikeHoeyNI or @GaryHurley93 at @ETQSchool Gary very unlucky. Touched pine needle to see if attached and ball moved on 6. Double.

Hurley's ball rested against a pine needle and when he was assessing the situation his ball moved, causing a two-shot penalty that led to a double bogey.
Hurley finished on two under par, three shots short of the target mark, and a single shot behind Hoey, who had six birdies and two double bogeys in a level par round of 72.
The tournament was won by England's Nathan Kimsey on 13 under par, while Tour cards also went to major winner YE Yang and former Ryder Cup player Edoardo Molinari.
