First-round leader Scott Piercy maintained his position at the top of the Safeway Open leaderboard, but was unable to complete his second round due to bad weather.

Piercy, who set a new course record on Thursday when he carded a 62, did not tee off until 3.25pm and could only complete 14 holes before darkness brought an end to the day's play.

Irish Olympian Seamus Power has ten holes left to play in his second round and is currently just one shot outside the cut, which is projected at two under.

The Waterford native carded a one-over-par 73 in first ever PGA Tour round on Thursday, but started his second round with a birdie on the first hole, followed by another on the fourth to move two under for the day and one under for the tournament.

The American was able maintain his two-shot lead as he moved to 14 under with two birdies and an eagle and will finish his round on Saturday.

Johnson Wagner moved up to second as he was five under for his round when darkness loomed while Paul Casey is on 11 under with six holes to play.

Bill Haas is the clubhouse leader on eight under after he carded a 70 in wet conditions while Phil Mickelson moved up the leaderboard with a 69 to leave him six under.
