Irish involvement at the Aberdeen Asset Management Paul Lawrie Match Play came to end when Michael Hoey exited at the last-16 stage at Archerfield.
England’s James Morrison was a 4&3 winner against Hoey, who had accounted for Morrison’s compatriot Matthew Southgate on a 2&1 scoreline earlier in the day.
Top seed Chris Wood crashed out at the Scottish venue, while fellow Ryder Cup hopeful Matt Fitzpatrick was also knocked out.
BMW PGA Championship winner Wood suffered a 2&1 defeat to fellow Englishman Daniel Brooks in the second round, while Fitzpatrick lost 4&3 to Spain's Alejandro Canizares in their last-16 match.
Second seed Alex Noren is safely through to the final eight after seeing off Renato Paratore and Nacho Elvira on day two, but tournament host Lawrie was eliminated by Australian Richard Green in the second round.
