Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy remains fourth in the world rankings after finishing in a three-way tie for fifth at the Open, while Henrik Stenson’s victory at Royal Troon has lifted him just one place to number five in the world.
Stenson moved up from sixth after a stunning 63 in the final round gave him a first major title and three-shot victory over Phil Mickelson, who climbed from 19th to 13th in the standings.
Sergio Garcia is back into the top 10 earning a share of fifth place.
The only other Irishman to figure in the top 50 is Offaly’s Shane Lowry, at number 28, who failed to make the cut at the weekend after posting rounds of 78 and 71.
