Paul Dunne has been forced to withdraw from the BMW SA Open at Glendower Golf Club with food poisoning.
The event was due to be Dunne's first of the year but he confirmed on twitter that illness had sidelined him.
"Not the best timing to get food poisoning/tummy bug the night before the #BMWSAOpen. Devastated to have to withdraw this morning," he wrote on twitter.
Ireland are now without a representative in the event.
Dunne will remain in South Africa as he takes parts in next week's Joburg Open, where he will be joined by Peter Lawrie, Kevin Phelan and Ruaidhri McGee.
