Irish golfers have helped move Great Britain and Ireland into a commanding position in the Walker Cup.
GB&I lead the prestigious amateur golf competition 10-6 following Sunday morning’s foursomes.
Paul Dunne and Gavin Hurley took their morning match 1 up over America’s Mike McCoy and Scott Harvey.
Gavin Moynihan and Jack Hume did lose to Bryson DeChambeau and Robby Shelton 3 and 2 however.
It was the first points that Moynihan dropped at this year’s Walker Cup at Ryal Lytham & St Anne’s having won both of his matches on Saturday.
Great Britain and Ireland took a 7-5 overnight lead into today’s second and at the Walker Cup and they built on that taking three of Sunday’s foursomes with the USA taking the fourth.
There are five Irish men on the ten-man team and all of them will be playing in Sunday afternoon’s foursomes.
As defending champions the US only need a draw to retain the title, meaning GB&I have to win four matches in the singles.
