A record five Irish players have been named on the Great Britain and Ireland team to compete in next month’s Walker Cup.
Paul Dunne, Jack Hume, Gary Hurley, Gavin Moynihan and Cormac Sharvin will make up half of captain Nigel Edwards' team at Royal Lytham and St Annes.
The other members are Ashley Chesters and Jimmy Mullen from England, and Grant Forrest and Jack McDonald from Scotland.
The team’s youngest member, 18-year-old Sam Horsfield, is based in Florida, but was born in England.
Dunne, who led the Open Championship after 54 holes, recently teamed up with Hurley at the US Amateur Open, with Hurley carrying the bag for Dunne as he reached the quarter-final, where he lost to Bryson DeChambeau.
Captain Edwards said: "We have selected a talented group of players who compete at the highest levels of amateur golf and, in some cases, have played in Major Championships and Tour events.
"The Walker Cup offers these players a tremendous opportunity to display their abilities and gain invaluable experience of playing in international team competition.
"I know there will be players who are disappointed not to have made the team and it has been a difficult decision to make with such strength in depth in the British and Irish game at the moment, but we believe we have selected the best players for the team and are very much looking forward to the match."
Great to be selected for @WalkerCup in Lytham in few weeks! Nice reward after great year! Hopefully it's as good as 2 years ago! #fiveIrish🍀

Meanwhile, Open Championship Silver Medal winner Jordan Niebrugge is one of five players that have been added to the US team.
Niebrugge, who pipped Dunne to finish as the leading amateur at St Andrews last month, was selected alongside Scott Harvey, Denny McCarthy, Mike McCoy and teenager Robby Shelton.
The quintet have been added to a US squad that already included DeChambeau, Beau Hossler, Lee McCoy, Maverick McNealy and Hunter Stewart.
The USA won the last Walker Cup matches in New York in 2013. This year's event takes place on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September.
