Irish golfer Paul Dunne has bowed out of the US Amateur Championship at the quarter-final stage after being beaten 3&2 by Bryson DeChambeau.
In a gruelling tournament, Dunne had already played five rounds of golf and won three matchplay encounters but the quarter-final final against DeChambeau proved a bridge too far.
The Wicklow golfer never led against his American counterpart, who took control of affairs as he won at the sixth and seventh holes.
Dunne did pull one back at the ninth but DeChambeau stretched his lead again by taking the 11th and 13th and there was no way back for the Irishman.
