Luke Donald has became the first man to win the money lists on both sides of the Atlantic in the same season.

The Englishman finished third in the season ending event on the European Tour - the Dubai World Championship - and the seven shot advantage he had over his nearest pursuer Rory McIlroy guaranteed him victory in the Race to Dubai.

Donald wrapped up the PGA Tour title a month ago and will finish the year as world number one.

Spain's Alvaro Quiros took home the Dubai World Championship when he rolled in a long eagle putt on the 18th green of the Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estate to win by two shots.

Quiros closed with a five-under par 67 for a 19 under par total of 269, three better than Scotland's Paul Lawrie, who made a birdie on the last hole to finish alone in second at 17 under par, with Donald a shot further back.

Shane Lowry was the best of the Irish on 11-under after a final round 70, while Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell both finished on nine-under after rounds of 71 and 66 respectively.
