Leona Maguire shot an opening 74 to lead the Irish challenge at the Spanish International Ladies Amateur Championship at Sherry Golf Jerez in Cadiz.
Leona’s sister and Slieve Russell clubmate Lisa was next best of the Irish after 77.
Leona Maguire is tied-8th with and Lisa tied- 24th at the halfway qualifying stage and are in good position to make the 36 hole matchplay cut for the top 32 players.
Danielle McVeigh of Royal County Down and Gillian O'Leary of Cork signed for 79 and 80 respectively.
Italian Bianca Maria Fabrizio leads the top quality European field after a 2-under par 70, one shot ahead of Spain's Noemi Jimenez.
With 34 players on 77 or better, McVeigh (T-41) and O’Leary (T-55) will be looking for a level par or 1-over score on Thursday to make the matchplay echelon over the weekend.
