The 3 Irish Open will return to Killarney next year for the first time in 18 years.
The Killeen course at the Killarney Golf and Fishing Club has been selected to host the 2010 edition, with an official announcement expected next week.
The Kerry club fought of stiff competition from Mount Juliet, Fota Island and Baltray to host the prestigious tournament.
England’s Nick Faldo won the last two renewals to be held at Killeen in 1991 and 1992.
The dates for next year’s tournament remain unknown, but the August Bank Holiday weekend – which falls two weeks after the Open - is viewed as the most likely slot.
