Ronnie Berry (Rossmore) and Andrew Stracey (England) lead the Irish Seniors Amateur Open Championship on level par after the opening round at the Bangor Golf Club.
Defending champion Adrian Morrow (Portmarnock) shot a two over par 73 to lie two shots off the lead.
Former champion Val Smyth (Co Louth), Nigel Duke (Killiney) and Liam McNamara (Woodbrook) are one shot behind the leaders on 72, while sharing the 73 mark with Morrow are Barry O’Leary (Greystones), Michael Quirke (Doneraile), Glyn Rees (Wales) and David Lane (England).
Sponsored by the Algarve Tourist Board, the Irish Seniors Championship is now in its 39th year, having been founded in 1970.
