The uncle of Colombian golfer Camilo Villegas was shot and killed in a robbery on Saturday.
Ernesto Villegas Zuluaga, who was 53, was attacked at his shop, with the perpetrators apparently targeting funds Villegas planned to use to buy coffee beans.
A bullet penetrated Zuluaga's heart and he was pronounced dead after being taken to San Marcos Hospital.
Family member Ruben Dario Jaramillo told reporters that Zuluaga had not been targeted because of his famous nephew.
‘It was a typical robbery. He tried to stop them and one of the guys shot him. It had nothing to do with Camilo,’ he said.
Police have offered a reward for information leading to the capture of the killers of the father of three.
Villegas, who was in Miami, has travelled home after hearing the news.
