World number six KJ Choi was named the Johnnie Walker Asian Player of the Year for a second time in a gala ceremony in Delhi on Saturday night.

The former power lifter, who won the award for the first time in 2002, beat out last year's Asian Tour Order of Merit champion Liang Wen-chong of China and Thailand's Chapchai Nirat to clinch the honour.

The 37-year-old claimed two US PGA Tour wins last season at the Memorial Tournament and AT&T National and finished fifth in the inaugural FedEx Cup.

Fellow Korean Lee Sung was also honoured on Saturday as he edged out Shiv Kapur of India, Juvic Pagunsan of the Philippines and Malaysia's Airil  Rizman for the Johnnie Walker Asian Rising Star Award.

The 28-year-old, who was born deaf, claimed his maiden Asian Tour title with a wire-to-wire win at the Bangkok Airways Open last year.

The evening's other award went to Argentina's Andres Romero, who bagged the Johnnie Walker Young Player of the Year title.
