Peter Lawrie was just two shots off the lead in the unfinished Mallorca Classic, as fading light put paid to hopes of the third round of the tournament finishing on schedule on Saturday.
Dutchman Robert-Jan Derksen held a one-shot lead at ten under par when play was postponed despite missing a five-foot putt in the gloom.
He and Jean-Francois Lucquin, the two joint overnight leaders, played cat and mouse throughout until the Frenchman bogeyed the 15th to join fellow countryman Gregory Bourdy on nine under.
Derksen had a good chance to extend his lead to two shots but slid his birdie putt past the cup at the 15th.
Several players will have to complete their third rounds on Sunday morning before setting out for the final 18 holes.
Bourdy equalled the best round of the week, firing a six-under 64 for a total of 201.
Peter Lawrie and Briton Sam Little, who also have three holes to finish, were two strokes off the pace while Richard Finch of Britain was on seven-under 203 after a 66.
Paul McGinley was at one under on the 16th hole when play was postponed. Graeme McDowell, Damien McGrane and Gary Murphy all finished their rounds but were well down the field.
World number 10 Sergio Garcia was five shots off the pace with one hole left to play.
