Rory McIlroy's bid to win a third successive West of Ireland Golf title ended in defeat at Rosses Point.

The 17year-old lost in the quarter-final to Irish Boys international Paul Cutler by one hole.

Cutler, 18, will now play Tommy McGowan in Tuesday's semi-final.

In the other semi-final, Joe Lyons of Galway meets Louth's Simon Ward.
