Ireland's Keith Nolan enjoyed a solid start to the USPGA Tour Qualifying Tournament in California, with a first round of 72, leaving him on level par.

Nolan is currently tied for 24th place, with the top 30 plus ties all claiming tour cards at the end of six rounds.

His round included two bogeys and two birdies and leaves the Bray man five shots off the clubhouse leader Scott Gutschewski who sits on five-under.

Jeff Gallagher and Ryan Howison are a shot further back after their rounds of 68, with John Mallinger, Bob Heintz, Andrew Johnson and Australia's Steve Allan on three-under.
