Defending champion Darren Clarke shot a 69 at the 2nd round of the Taiheiyo Masters in Japan.
Following his first round 75, he lies on level par and is tied for 34th place with six others.
Katsumasa Miyamoto, Daisuke Maruyama and Sergio Garcia lead the field on nine-under.
