Ian Poulter upstaged the three Ryder Cup players warming up for next week's match when he took the Madrid Open title on Sunday by five strokes.
Poulter's seventh European Tour win, after a gap of nearly two years, came with a closing three-under-par 69 for a 22-under-par four-round total.
Spaniard Ignacio Garrido's 66 earned him second place, a stroke ahead of Phillip Price who finished on 16-under-par.
Padraig Harrington, who led at the halfway stage, took fourth place, a further shot back, to be the best finisher of the Ryder Cup trio. Jose Maria Olazabal and Darren Clarke will also play for Europe against the United States next week.
Clarke made a return to competitive golf with a tie for 31st place on seven-under-par.
David Higgins and Damien McGrane finished on nine-under-par. Peter Lawrie finished on six-under-par with Stephen Browne down in tied 56th on three-under-par.
