McIlroy in Britain & Ireland team

17-year-old Rory McIlroy has been named in the Britain and Ireland team for the St Andrews Trophy match against Continental Europe in the Czech Republic in September.

McIlroy, who already this season has retained the Irish title, won the West of Ireland and lost a play-off for the Irish stroke play, is one of three newcomers along with English champion Ross McGowan and Lytham Trophy winner Jamie Moul.

They join Walker Cup sextet Fisher, Nigel Edwards, Rhys Davies, Robert Dinwiddie, Lloyd Saltman and Richard Ramsay.
