Welshman David Park brushed aside a two-pronged Thai challenge to top the leaderboard of the Malaysian Open after the second round on Friday.

Park carded an eight under 64 to move to 13-under par, a stroke clear of Thai duo Thammanoon Srirot and Thongchai Jaidee.

Park was among 64 players able to finish the second round before a mid-afternoon storm lashed the course.

Ireland's Padraig Harrington will be one of 84 players to finish their second round early on Saturday after officials called a halt to play due to lightning. The first round on Thursday was also interrupted by thunderstorms.

David Higgins finished the second round on six under with Gary Murphy the same having completed only 18 holes.

Harrington is four under after four holes of round two completed, while Ulsterman Michael Hoey is three over after two rounds played.
