Damien McGrane leads Padraig Harrington by one shot after an absorbing day of golf in the Irish PGA Championship at Palmerstown House.

Starting the day one shot behind the world's twelfth best player, McGrane matched Harrington shot for shot before three birdies in four holes brought him level. McGrane ultimately recorded a three-under-par 69 to lie on five-under for the tournament. Harrington recorded a 71.

McGrane has been consistency personified all week. Having dropped four shots in the first four holes on Thursday, he has covered the last 50 holes in nine-under-par, dropping only one shot in those 50 holes.

Harrington led briefly following an eagle-birdie burst on the ninth and tenth holes but the tenacious McGrane wore him down.

The only other players under par after three rounds are Stephen Hamill (two-under) and Francis Howley (one-under).
