Irish Close champion Rory McIlroy shot an amazing 11-under-par 61 on the Dunluce course at Royal Portrush yesterday in the Magners North of Ireland Championship.
That gave the 16-year-old Holywood schoolboy a qualifying total of 132, 10-under par and the leading qualifier's spot going into the matchplay stages.
McIlroy shot a first round 71 to go along with his remarkable second round 61 and finished five shots clear of his nearest challenger.
