Ramsay wins Irish Amateur Open

Scotland's Richard Ramsay carded a final round 68 at Carton House in County Kildare to capture the AIB Irish Amateur Open Championship yesterday.

Trailing Dunmurry's Darren Crowe by three strokes entering the final round, Ramsay birdied holes three, six and nine to draw level with Crowe at the turn.

The pair locked horns over the back nine before the decisive moment came at the 16th, where Crowe's tee shot found the water, resulting in a double bogey for the Irish international as Ramsay parred.

North West's Michael McGeady, the only other player to break par over the 72 holes, finished in third place while teen prodigy Rory McIlory recorded a fourth round 68, the lowest round of the day, to finish in sixth place.
