Lee Westwood believes the down-to-earth camaraderie of Europe's golfers is the key to winning the Ryder Cup.
Europe's team is packed with players as likely to dine together as they are to share the same tee, while the stars of the US Tour are much more likely to go their separate ways.
It is, according to Westwood, one of the main reasons for Europe's success, especially in the fourballs and foursomes disciplines of the Ryder Cup.
"We mix week-in and week-out", says Westwood, who is likely to rekindle his inspirational three-point partnership at The Belfry with Spain's Sergio Garcia in the opening foursomes tomorrow morning.
"It's not like we just come together for this week. We go out to dinner. I go out to dinner with Darren (Clarke) and Ian Poulter and David Howell quite regularly on tour."
"So this week we're not in a different kind of environment than normal. We are all comfortable in each other's presence and there's a lot of laughing and joking."
"On the US Tour you get a courtesy car every week so you have a bit more freedom. Whereas we prefer to jump on a coach and generally stay in the same hotels. Generally over here they stay in a wide variety of hotels or in houses. The Tour over here just seems to be bigger and more widespread." he added.
