Scotland have captured the European Youths Team Championship at The Island Golf Club after a typically dramatic encounter against England which went down to the last hole of the tournament.
On a day where nothing could be taken for granted, it was the plucky Scots that held on for a famous win.
The deciding match saw Richie Ramsay of Scotland turn for the inward nine trailing Jamie Moul by 1 hole, but by the time the players had reached the 15th tee, the Scotsman had turned it around and the match came down the 18th with Ramsay needing a half or better.
Moul was off the back of the green in two while Ramsay had played a six-iron to some 30 feet from the hole. Moul chipped on to the green and the ball finished 6 feet past the hole. Ramsay stood over his putt knowing that he had two putts for the Championship.
However, the Scotsman only needed one, holing the long putt for a birdie. The celebrations began in earnest for Scotland who settled a score after finishing runners-up to England four years ago at Kilmarnock.
Ireland finished the event in 10th place after losing today to Belgium.
