Reigning European and North of Ireland champion Brian McElhinney had a 6 and 5 win over Andrew McCormick in the quarter-finals of the Irish Amateur Close Championships at Donegal Golf Club this afternoon.
McElhinney will meet Gareth Maybin in the semi-finals tomorrow. Maybin beat Mark Campbell on the 19th hole this evening.
Shandon Park's Alastair McKinley will meet Michael McGeady who today came back from three down with three to play to beat Harry Diamond on the 19th and then beat Darren Crowe in emphatic fashion 8 and 7.
