Britain's Mark Roe has been disqualified from the Tournament Players Championship of Europe after a marshall reported that he had putted a moving ball during a bizarre flurry of putts.
While Roe's playing-partners Soren Kjeldsen of Denmark and Frenchman Jean-Francois Remesy said they had not noticed him hit a moving ball, two of the caddies in the group confirmed he had.
Because he did not add any penalty for playing the moving ball, Roe was deemed by officials to have signed for a wrong score and was disqualified.
In yesterday's first round of the Roe, level-par after 14 holes, six-putted the sixth green, his 15th hole after starting at the 10th. The Briton ended with a six-over-par 78.
The long-standing European pro was disqualified sensationally in last year's British Open when he and partner Jesper Parnevik signed the wrong cards in a mix-up after the third round when Roe was in contention.
